At the start of each semester, we will create a group agreement, otherwise known as a code of conduct that has been written collectively. (As a reference, we might refer to the School for Poetic Computation's code of conduct).

We will be respectful
We will not make assumptions (explanatory comma)
Please arrive to class on time
Make space for everyone to say what they want to say
Create a signal for these verbal statements (hand raise or emoji)
We're are able to speak aloud or use the chat
Mute ourselves if we're not actively speaking
We can eat snacks and drink beverages, but no meals that are distracting
We can take bio breaks as needed
For external interruptions, this is dependent on class time (presentations v. studio time)
Create an "away" message; parents can text in an emergency, sign on the door, etc.
Class correspondence will occur on Slack.
We will give respectful critiques and feedback
Embrace awkward silences
Take Space / Make Space or Step Up / Step Back
Photography: ask for permission
Violent, aggressive, explicit comments will not be tolerated
We will include disclaimers or trigger warnings for some explicit content
We will not use the disclaimer, "This might be a dumb question, but..." There are no dumb questions!
All Slack messages will be answered by 9pm. Otherwise, they'll be added to the queue for the next day.
